Latest News from Literacy South Canterbury

From 1 January 2019, Literacy South Canterbury will merge into our parent body, Literacy Aotearoa. We will operate as Literacy Aotearoa here in the South Canterbury region.

Our name and structure might be changing, but everything else will remain the same.

Individually tailored education ✔

Free to learners ✔

Focussed on the South Canterbury community ✔

Amalgamating with Literacy Aotearoa, means we are joining a national organisation with tutors in almost every town and city around Aotearoa New Zealand.

We will operate a regional model, and will be part of the Central South Island region. That includes us here in Te Tihi o Maru – Timaru, and our colleagues in Otautahi – Christchurch, Arowhenua – Ashburton and Te Oha a Maru – Oamaru.

Our existing services and programmes will continue

Our existing services and programmes will continue as usual.

Learners will receive the same high-quality education at no cost.

We will continue our work with community organisations.

If you are one of our funders, we still want to collaborate with you to deliver better outcomes for our community. Funds already provided to Literacy South Canterbury will be ring-fenced for dedicated use in strict accordance with the purposes the funds have been provided for.

If you are a business or employer, we will be part of a national organisation, which will strengthen our quality assurance processes and make it easier to provide training across our region.

Thank you for your continued support

We look forward to working with you for the benefit of our community.

If you have any questions or comments, we would love to hear them. Just write back to office@lsc.org.nz
